We can provide your organization with the necessary equipment AND skills to make your meetings and events successful multi-lingual spaces, guaranteeing the participation of all those you are seeking to reach.  Latino Union staff is available to work with you prior to your event to assess your needs and determine the best tactics and equipment for creating a professional and smooth-running event. When planning for your event, keep this information in mind:

Types of Event Interpretation

Simultaneous:  speakers move through event in primary language while interpreter simultaneously interprets what is being said word-for-word into target language

Consecutive:  speakers move through event in pieces, pausing so that the interpreter can give a word-by-word interpretation into the target language

Sight translation: speakers prepare a written document beforehand ofwhat is going to be said and the interpreter translates this document andrecites it after the speaker either in pieces or in its entirety

Types of Equipment

Interpreter stationary unit: usually used in public hearing settings; interpreter listens to primary language and then speaks into a stationary microphone located at the back of the room or next to speakers.  This is then transmitted to mobile units used by target language listeners throughout the premises

Interpreter mobile unit: most common; usually used in settings where there will be unrehearsed commentary and the interpreter must move around to hear all conversation

Listener mobile units:  standard mobile units to be worn by target language listeners
